BMW Woodclff headquarters contact needed

Post by ffoulkes »

Dear Member
I own a 2014 428 xi BMW. I just took in to Princeton BMW where I bought it, to get its regular service. After the service I asked for a copy of Key Data Sheet. They refused saying it was confidential and not available to the owner. I find this secrecy hard to believe. After speaking to the service manage Frank, he said he would give it to me only if BMW headquarters said it was okay. Please let me know who I can contact at BMW to get Princeton to give me a copy.

You did not buy a 2014 428xi. You bought a license to operate software in a 428xi.

It's simply best to call BMW customer relations at 1-800-831-1117

They will help in any way they can.

I have been down this road before and can offer some advice. Calling BMW will actually not help with this. You can call them at the number Ray provided, but from my experience, BMW will not call a service manager and say "Yeah, it's fine to give out the info...". It simply does not work like that. The key reader information is not confidential. It simply shows the info you are already have at your fingertips in the car. Service Info, Service Needs, Check Control Messages, etc. All the same info that you can access in the car, but in a nice printed out format. Now... If you are looking for the DCS History report, this is a document wer ARE NOT allowed to share. There is no secret info on there.. It doesnt have any cool secret data on the car. It is simply a list of all BMW paid claims and open recalls. If you are original owner, you already have this info in the form of your service invoices from service visits. There is a a cool document that CAN be shared with you and that is the BUILD SHEET data. That is a cool printout that shows all of the options and codes from when the car was built. There is no personal or claim info on this and can be emailed to you. I have all of mine from each car I have owned. Hope this helps!
