Not quite a CLUB race, but interesting story of record set Sept 8 in a Subaru. Eight miles, 5000' vertical.

Mt Washington Auto Race
Mt Washington
Funny, a customer of mine was just at Mt Washington, hiked it to the top and back down, took him 9 hrs. R
Very interesting, Was just there last week on a (rainy) vacation. Had every intention of doing the auto road but the weather (at least the weathermen) did not cooperate.
At the end of the day it was suppose to rain, on the top of the mountain it was 120 miles visibility, 40 degrees, and 2 MPH wind. We were too far away to make it before dark.
On the day it was suppose to NOT rain, visibility was a few feet, wind chill was 7, with 70-100MPH winds.
I also did the cog railroad years ago. Think it takes 90 minutes each way and yes, we were covered in soot by the end of the trip. Just to let you know they now run bio diesel fueled engines. The do run the coal engine once a day for those who want the nostalgic sooty ride
