M stripes on non-M?

Post by nj325ci »

I was contemplating adding a small M// stripe on the corner of the hood, fender or maybe elsewhere on my current vehicle just to celebrate and support M heritage and racing. Here's the catch and the question...it's a Z4 Coupe 3.0si. Not an M unfortunately.

To me it's lame when people add actual M badges to non-M cars as if they're trying to fool people (though they're not really fooling anyone of course) but this would not be a badge and I'm definitely not trying to fool anyone, more an issue of being proud to fly the colors.

So is it taboo or lame to add an M stripe to a non-M bimmer?

If tastefully done and, as you said, since it is not about slapping a M badge on the trunk, then it could work.

I am personally a proponent of "the simpler the better" and thus shy away of any mods, but again, I also see (albeit rarely) some very tasteful modifications done here and there.

Send us a pic if you decide to go ahead...

I vote for adding the Audi Sport stripes. That oughta "get in everyone's hostile little face".

How about a wrap based on the 1968 Claude Dubois GT40?

Thanks for all the input. Now I'm thinking I should just go for it and create my own art car!
