New F1 scoring system.

Post by brunhuber »

I just read that they changed it from:

10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1

to:

25-20-15-10-8-6-5-3-2-1

Note that there is a jump from 3 to 5 but then only to 6 followed by another jump from 6-8. How do you rationalize that skip in the system? Somehow it makes 7th place about the same as a 6th place finish.

Yeah, kinda strange.

I heard 25 is reserved of the Schu. Going to be an interesting year! Can't wait!

You justify it by having more teams on the grid. With this method more teams will score points. Remember that funds are distributed partly based on the number of points each team scores per season.

I also read a rumor that theyre thinking of implementing a Nascar-style bonus point system where you receive a bonus point for taking the poll, having the fast lap of the race, and leading a lap of the race. This is not confirmed though.

can't wait for the new season to start! Schumacher back with Brawn, 2 Brits driving for Mclaren, Lotus getting back in the mix, Red Bull hopefully coming back strong after a great year last year, it's all coming together for what should be a great season
