Post by BriMc »

Do I need to be a CCA member to participate in the class?

You need not be a BMWCCA member to participate in New Jersey Chapter driver schools.

Even guest at the track can participate in the class sessions. Heck you can stay and hear or ask questions at all 3 levels of classes if you can take that much of the classroom instructor. :D

I'm also interested in the 10/18 class, but the new helmet cost is quite steep for a first-timer ($500). Any ideas on shops with deals or discounts for members? Or used...ebay?
Also, I saw something about a loaner program perhaps?

OG Racing in northern VA used to rent helmets. You can google them.

Here's an open face helmet (SA2005) for $149.00

I am certain there were loaner helmets available last year, so just be patient if you don't want to buy one. I am willing to bet there is helmet information forthcoming, but I am 100% sure the club will have them available.

Tmann,

Yes, we will have loaner helmets available for new students at no charge. We do require that you use a "helmet sock" (aka balaclava). They can be purchased for a nominal cost from various on-line sources or club sponsors - we may also have disposable ones available for purchase.

I hope that you decide to come to the school. We have a set of exercises specifically designed for novices as well as dedicated classroom sessions and your on-track run group will only be novice students. The program is designed to give you a comfortable, low cost introduction to our Driver Schools. Once you've tasted the apple, there is no going back....

See you there,
Jeff

I know! I got a few laps on Montecello last month in a CTS-V and loved it. Then my wife caught me looking at Pilotis on Amazon. Her reaction - "good grief" and a roll of the eyes.
Registration done.
