Most insurance policies cover Windshields for little or no out of pocket. I would go that route before paying for a windshield.

I only hand wash my cars. You will find the detail shops will hand wash for only a few dollars more than the automated wash places. Personally, I like to wash my own and enjoy the bonding time.

"Reglued"??? maybe the glue melted. Mine have been fine since I changed them (with new shoes).

Jon,

Are you sure it isn't the emergency brake shoes rattling? I replaced mine, which were in pieces, and I no longer have any rattle.

My family rule is you must learn on a manual for a couple of reasons. 1) it forces you to pay attention (no iPod or phone when both hands are busy) 2) if the kid ever goes out with friends who drink, he or she will always be able to drive whatever car is there. I taught more than a few on my e30 and sold the car with over 200,000 miles on the original clutch. I've found the key is to make sure the seating position is correct and get them over the fear of rolling backward quickly.

BTW, I learned in a Chevy cargo van with 3 on the tree.

Al, I taught my daughter, and others, using the steps below. You have the choice of teaching clutch use first or getting a car with an auto to teach the basics of driving first.
