Re: F80 / F82 / F30 trunk opens by itself

Customer has not returned with issue yet . Also ,when you mentioned the loaner did the same thing, was it in the garage l...

Re: High test vs Regular?
Lot of people believe that high octane fuel is more "powerful" , it's not. Higher the octane number ,the less likely to knock(or ping) like Dave said above.high compression can cause fuel combustion too premature causing early detonation, higher octane minimizes this possibility . This allows the eng...

Re: What about the F15 X5??
F15 X5 3.5d is excellent choice for long distances and if your keeping vehicle a long time. Diesels hate short trips and lack of use.Diesel fuel is not as hard as you think to find, there are plenty of stations out there.

Re: NJ Mechanics Who Know Anything About the 8-Series? (E31
Agree with Tim, also knowledge of the E31 is divided in two. the drivetrain and the other is understanding the vehicle and electrical system.
Like the above said, what issues do you have?

Re: E91 Power Steering Getting Tight
If the resistance in steering is every approx 180deg in rotation ,then yes I have seen the universal steering shaft joint go bad. you said the fluid smelt burnt, have you inspected it for any metal particles? I have also seen bad pumps and racks for your complaint. you can go the cheapest route first...

Re: Valve cover and oil filter housing gasket leaks on 325i
Both of the repairs for that car can run just south of $1000,not completely abnormal in pricing.certainly a 2.5-3.5hr job for a tech that has done them(valve cover) and the filter housing is whole another story.

Re: Valve cover and oil filter housing gasket leaks on 325i
sorry to stretch this out, but is it a 2009 328 or 335? there's no 325 in that year.guess it's easier if it was your car.
Either N52k or N54 will take a few hours done correctly . If not done carefully can end up in pinched gaskets or even cracked valve covers.

Re: Anyone have a "better" code reader/analyzer to plug into
Keith, Even with more expensive code readers or factory diag equipment, it can be very difficult narrow down a intermittent misfire. Ebay coils sort of would scare me to use in long term ,not saying they are all junk but just beware. My suggestion is to buy 1 or 2 coils and just move them around fro...
