Anyone know of any school offering this training? I've searched the net but haven't found much. Seems this would be the ideal time for it. Looking for something within 300 miles of New York.

Had the dually in a few nice six wheel drifts last night, fun throwing this much weight around, I was also imagining at the same time the freight train it would be crashing through the trees. R Cool

Not so much a skidpad, but NJMP is having some winter autocrosses on their skidpad parking lot. Apparently they are all weather.

Also, I know one group had a few track days (on snow) at Monticello Motorsports Park that were open to the public. I dont know if they are doing them this winter. I havent attended. I saw some pictures afterward and more than one car looked to have a few run-ins with a snowbank or two.

Edit: I found some information on a subaru forum about last years event.

Off the top of my head:

The NEQ Chapter of the Audi Club (ACNA) runs winter driving schools at the Team O'Neil facility in New Hampshire. They also run an event at Mecaglisse in Quebec.

The Boston Chapter of the BMW CCA runs an "ice racing" series in NH. Basically, autocross on a frozen lake in NH.

The Motorsports Club of Ottawa (MCO) runs a winter driving school plus solo sprint events outside of Ottawa.

I know some guys (members of the BMW Club of Quebec) who run informal winter lapping/drift weekends at a frozen lake near Montreal.

I've done all of these events, both as a participant and as an instructor. They're all great fun. All are worth the drive.

The first BSR Friday at the Track (FATT) is on this Sat 3-13-10(?!) at Summit Point Main track. The event is a 1 day school with 4 student on-track sessions and at least ONE skidpad session.

As a long time skidpad instructor for them I can tell you that any interested student can get multiple skidpad sessions as most student tend to skip this offer. The sessions are not mandatory. If you can still sign up, not only will you have fun, but you can hone your car control skillz yo! I believe that Summit Pt is about 5 hrs from NYC. It is just outside of Charles Town WV.

You guys missed a wonderful, rainy day at the track. It was slipperier than snail snot during the 1st instructor session.

I had my new to me 2003 E46 M3 out on track for the 1st time and had a blast. It is so neutral right out of the box in stock form. I also had it out on the skidpad and it is one of the easiest cars to drift with b/c of all that lovely torque at almost any rpm.

I did spin my car coming out of the carosel but I had taken most of the energy out of the car before dropping my rear wheel into the dirt. Got red misted chasing a spec miata for 4 laps w/o a pointby.

The skidpad at Summit Point that serves the Main Circuit and Jefferson can be rented for $530 a day. If you put a group together you should have no trouble getting NCC members to instruct you (certainly mje) by offering them free time.
