Speeding tickets. And gas stations.

Pretty rare car, but I haven't heard of any serious issues. There are very few of these in the chapter that I know of.
CURRENT FLEET
2017 X5 35d
2000 328i (my first and still probably favorite)
2019 230 X-drive
2006 M3
2022 M3
Gone but not forgotten- 2008 E90 M3, 1991 325iX, 1989 325i, 2015 M235i Cabrio, 2019 Miata RF

Found this.

Not much else on the forums that I can see. It's such a low volume car, it's hard to tell how common this is. In any case, a warranty is a good idea.

How old is it?
On general principle, I'd have a pre-purchase inspection performed. On any used car, I recommend getting a engine oil and transmission fluid analysis from Blackstone Labs. M5s are known for excess oil consumption. If over 75,000mi. I would pay special attention to the thrust rod bushings and accesory belts.

If it is post LCI, make sure the recall is performed on the rear lights.

My dad's 08' w/ 130,000mi. Has had the following, the prices are approximate, I don't remember the exact price:
Power steering pump broke during track day ($2,000 including new belts)
Clutch Position sensor ($1,100)
Thermostat ($1,200)

It is a 2008 M5 with 36k Miles.

Thanks for the tip about the recall and blackstone labs. I will definitely consider it.
