New Member, New BMW M3 Owner

Post by nj_brit »

Hello All,

I am a new member, and the new owner of a low mileage, one previous owner late model (September 2013 build date) M3 Convertible. You can see her here:

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 57393ea45e

She is my first BMW, after years of saying I'd never own one. So it goes.

Hopefully I will see you around on the roads.

Thanks. I just took her past 18,000 miles, and the history I have backs it all up, so it seems to be a genuine low mileage bargain... ;-)

A few years I tried to locate pictures of every card I had ever owned, and succeeded, save for the first. I made an album, which you can see here if you are interested.

Stuart,

Welcome!

Nice pictures. I'm trying to find 1:18 scale die-casts for all of the cars my family owned. It is not an easy task.

Thanks. If you want to see more of Jensen check here:

She's one of 10,503 made, there are probably less than 1,500 examples left worldwide.

She has 2.0L Lotus 907 engine, which was the first mass produced dual overhead cam, 16-Valve all-alloy engine. Made in Britain. In the 70's. So, reliability is a concept and not a reality.

She was upgraded to Euro specification, with twin Dellorto 45 carburetors and K&N Filters, and probably puts out about 150bhp through a 4 speed box.

Interesting...my wife's brother still owns his '74 Europa JPS, which he bought new (!). Perhaps same head, different block than the Jenson?

Many years ago he replaced the Dellortos with a mechanical FI system from a period VW, injectors mounted in custom TIG welded manifold runners. Back when cars were simple and fun to modify!

I think the Europa had a different, earlier engine. The Lotus 907 went on to be used in the Lotus Elite, here from Wikipedia:

"The Elite was Lotus' first car to use the 907 aluminium-block 4-valve, DOHC, four-cylinder engine that displaced 1,973 cc (120.4 cu in) and developed 115.6 kW (155 hp). (The 907 engine had previously been used in Jensen-Healeys.) The 907 engine ultimately became the foundation for the 2.0 L and 2.2 L Lotus Esprit power-plants, the naturally aspirated 912 and the turbocharged 910."

There is an upgrade path to FI in the 907, but mine is, well, period correct.
