2014 BMW VDC Tour is confirmed

Post by pauln »

Dear CCA members,

We are happy to announce this year's BMW VDC (Vehicle Distribution Center) Tour is taking place on Saturday March 29th. This event is for CCA members only and you must register on MotorsportsReg.com. Registration starts on March 1 at 9am EST.

Details:
NJ BMW CCA
BMW Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) Tour
March 29, 2014 - 9am-1pm
Sponsored by Flemington BMW

Agenda:
8:00 am - Registration
9:00 am – Tour begins
12:00 pm- Lunch will be served at the VDC location (provided by Flemington BMW)
1:00 pm – Event ends

Background: The BMW VDC is the point of entry for BMWs’, Mini’s, and Rolls Royce’s into the United States. BMW currently has Four VDCs in the United States. The New Jersey VDC processes approximately 65,000 cars per year and supports 8 states. The West Coast VDC in Port Hueneme, California receives cars for the West Coast, Baltimore VDC receives cars destined to the Midwest and the Virginia, Maryland dealers, and Brunswick, Georgia VDC receives cars destined for the southern United States. The New Jersey VDC processes an average of 300 cars per day including new and European Delivery BMWs, Minis, and Rolls-Royces, which arrive from Austria, Germany, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.

What to expect? You will get an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the facility. Several VDC staff members will walk us through the entire process once a vehicle enters the port and the different stages and quality checks before a vehicle is ready for delivery.

This event is limited to current BMW CCA members only! We are limiting this event to 100 members (Must show valid member ID at check-in at the VDC). If you wish to bring a family member, you must register that person as an associate member on the national BMW CCA website and bring proof of registration. No children under 12 are permitted. Absolutely no cameras or videos (including smart phones, GoPros, mini-camcorders,…etc.)

Note: We will have a waiting list so if you are signed up and cannot make the event for any reason to notify Paul Ngai immediately prior to the event so we can give your spot another member.

Cost: $10 donation to the BMW CCA Foundation’s Teen Street Survival program to be collected at the door. If you wish to write a check, please address to ‘BMW CCA Foundation, Inc.’.

...and PLEASE, don't forget to cancel your registration if you know you will not be able to make the meeting. As Paul said, each year we have a waiting list, so please be respectful of other member and free up your spot if you have a last minute conflict.

Thanks and see you at the VDC.

Paul, Thanks for your work on this event - I was able to register, but cannot find an address for the VDC.

One good possibility: BMW NA have already announced that the 4 Series Gran Coupe will make its US debut at the NY show.

Hmmmmmm...perhaps in Individual trim...?

Okay. I would have gotten in trouble for bringing my camera anyway.

Enjoy!

i think they're asking a bit much when they ask avid BMW enthusiasts not to bring a camera, much less a camera phone.

It's like it's some top secret ordeal, for your eyes only, and you'll have a hitman on you if you get away with a picture/intel.

they're just cars, people. take it easy.

And I happen to love photography as well.

There is absolutely no photography at the VDC. Let's not ruin it for the club. There's plenty of other opportunities to take photos like the NYIAS. Please respect the rules.
