Apex Wheels Buying Advice

Post by ccraig13 »

Hey I'm in the market for new wheels for the summer tires. I've heard good things about Apex ARC-8 and EC-7. Anyone else recommend them or any others? Also, I did some searching prior to this and read that the EC-7 is stronger than the ARC-8. Would I be taking a risk going with the ARC-8?

The Arc-8s are great wheels and a lot of guys race with them. I wouldn't hesitate.

I can second what Jeff said: I have NEVER heard any issues with the ARC-8s.
I had a set myself and they are great.

I think that the EC-7 were designed to produce additional sizes and/or offsets and ended up being a bit heavier. I am not sure how much was doen on purpose with the intent to be "stronger" or not.

I know that Paul has a set of EC-7s for the track.

You can't go wrong with either one.

I remember seeing yours at the track and thought they looked great!

So I'm currently planning on going with this setup:

Square (AWD) Setup: 18x9 ET31
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3, 235/40 ( Was going with the Conti DW but read these actually outperform them, even though they're an All-Season ).

I'm told this will not rub, but is there anything I should know about having wider tires? I assume traction will be better, but will there be any negative affects for someone like me who uses it as a DD?

Update:

After speaking with MTROIS, I've decided to go with 8.5" width instead of 9". Being able to get advice from other members always reminds me just how valuable it is to be apart of this club! Thanks guys!
