R53 Brake Wear Sensor Indicator Reset

Post by DougDish »

Just a bit of tech info for any R53 owners.
Mine is a 2004 Mini Cooper S.

I recently wore the front brake pads down to the pad wear sensor.
There is one sensor on driver side front and a scond on driver side rear.

The brake pad wear sensor indicator appears on the dash as a circle with segmented parentheses. After replacement of the pads and sensor you will need to reset the indicator.

This was done with the onboard computer.
To the best of my memory I used the following sequence:

With car off.
Press and hold trip odometer reset.
Turn key to position two (no starting).
Odometer will change to "reset".
Click select button on turn signal stalk.
Indicator will go out.
Release trip odometer reset.

Hope this helps.
