Question for E36, OBD II

Hello, all. I'm not too familiar with OBDII and I have a question for those of you with the M/S52 engine from the late 90's...

I have a 1999 M3 as a daily driver, and I just ordered the 80 deg C thermostat with the matching 80/88 deg switch for electric fan. I've previously used this combo as part of the "mechanical fan delete" job on my 1995 M3, and I was pleased with how that turned out.

For the '99 M3, I'm wondering if I may be setting myself up for some fault codes due to the OBDII system. Do any of you have experience with using the OEM thermostat @ 80 deg on an OBDII car? If so, please let me know if I will be fine or if I should retain the 88 deg t-stat.

Thanks!

Hey Vic,

I've never heard of an issue with using a lower temperature thermostat on E36s in general, including OBDII. It certainly doesn't throw any codes when the thermostat is stuck. :)

Good luck!
