WTB: E46 Fan clutch and fan shroud

Post by DrewZ »

Update 1/18: All buttoned up thanks to Warren's Auto Parts being open on Sundays.

The only way my 323iA's fan clutch would come off was while it was still attached to the water pump. The good news is:1) it was unseasonably warm today; and 2) I was planning on replacing the water pump anyway. The bad news is: 1) even after dousing with highly toxic/effective Kroil, and clamping in my bench vise, the fan clutch remains Hopelessly Devoted to the water pump; and 2) I had to less-than-gently persuade the fan shroud to remove itself out-of-the-usual-order. Anyone local (to Cranford) have either a used fan clutch or fan shroud available?
Many thanks,

Drew,

You do know that is a left handed thread. The old rule doesn't apply.
I have a 11 52 7 505 302 by Berh, new.
Behr PN 8MV 376 733 001.
I'm 10 minutes off exit 120.

No help on the fan shroud. It does not cross to a E30 or E39 shroud

There are special tools to remove the fan. Normally done with the water pump in the car one tool holds the pump from turning by grabbing the pulley bolts, the other a thin crescent wrench to spin off (as indicated) the left hand threaded the fan clutch. I have these tools (North Brunswick), but it sounds as you are way past the point of needing them.

It is January. You don't need a fan unless you sit in traffic.
...or...
Convert the car to a manual trans and electric fan.
