E91 Power Steering Getting Tight
2007 E91, 113K, power steering getting lazy, feels resistance at times, no leaks, fluid smells a little burned ? First guess was pump, rack ? doesn't look involved, any other tricks before I dive in ?

Might not be a hydraulic problem at all. I have heard that the lower steering column sometimes goes bad on E90s--specifically the U-joint/knuckle/giubo/whatever-the-heck-it's-called. The symptom is intermittent, increased steering effort.

If the resistance in steering is every approx 180deg in rotation ,then yes I have seen the universal steering shaft joint go bad.
you said the fluid smelt burnt,have you inspected it for any metal particles? I have also seen bad pumps and racks for your complaint.
you can go the cheapest route first by draining/flushing and replacing the fluid and see how it goes.
of course,when doing these repairs,do not forget to replace the reservoir (built in filter).
