Brake question for F10
Brake question for F10
At 38k miles I needed rear brakes. Isn't that a bit unusual? Especially for me who didn't need new brakes until after 70k miles for my last car (the ZHP), since I believe brakes are for losers. Furthermore, don't front brakes go first. What would cause for my rear brakes to go this fast and first? Anybody have an answer for that?

Re: Brake question for F10
Christina, Stop flooring it and spinning the tires!! Remember most non-M cars have open differentials, the traction control uses the brakes to stop wheel spin...
PS you not a loser if you use the brakes to stop from hitting someone....
Are you SURE it actually need them. On our E90 the indicator said many times it needed rear brakes. The pads were fine and they just reset the indicator without changing anything. And at the current rate looks like we will get at least 100K out of the brakes.

Re: Brake question for F10
Christina,
You may not need brakes, depending on your production date and current software level. I am sure you have maintenance and warranty so either way you are covered
There have been some cars out there where the CBS forecast is giving false estimates on brake replacements.

Re: Brake question for F10
I was not aware I needed the brakes, but BMW put them on the rear, when I took my car in for an oil change. Of course I didn't have to pay, the car isn't old enough I was just curious, since it was very unusual.

Unless you have the old pads, no way to tell for sure.
