Trailer Registrations?

Post by gfield »

I know of a fellow club member that registered their trailer in Maine. The cost seems too good to be true, around $10/year. In NY you must get your trailer inspected yearly, plus registered yearly for a cost of around $200, plus if it weighs over 1000lbs it must be insured so it works out to cost just as much as having another car. I was looking to save the $2000/ year on initial sales tax, registration, inspection and insurance fees. What do other club members do?

Greg, first, get it insured, my 24' Pace is insured for replacement at $100 a year, plus contents. When you title it, remember, it was in horrific condition if used, only paid a couple hundred bucks  . To bad about inspections, title it at your Uncles address, no trailer inspections in NJ 8)
