What is the best indicator of the true mileage on an older car? I found an '85 528E on CL stating that the car has 127K miles, but the picture of the driver seat looks pretty ragged. Other than the reviewing the maintenance logs, is there a 'tell tale' way of indicating a car's true mileage? Here's the link: http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/cto/2830617948.html
Thanks,
Al
How to check true mileage - '85 528E
528E
Looks like the seats are not leather, that material dry rots, that would explain the tears. I would also look at the steering wheel for wear, shift knob, brake a clutch rubbers. Check the spare, ask for any receipts, look for mileage documentation, car fax etc.. R
