BSW audio

Post by jsfbmw »

Does anyone have the BSW speaker and/or subwoofer upgrade installed? Interested in hearing what it sounds like.

I did the BSW speaker upgrade (just speakers, no sub) on my 2002 X5. The difference in sound quality is not dramatic, but it is definitely noticeable. The sound is richer, with tighter lows and less scratchy highs, and the new speakers can handle more volume and a higher bass setting without distortion.

I'm not an "audiophile" but I am a musician and I do listen to a lot of music, in different styles, so I appreciate the improvement in clarity and fullness with the upgrade. If overall sound quality is important to you, the upgrade is a definite improvement, but it's not like a complete revamp of the system (the replacement speakers are still the same size and location as OEM).

I installed BSW's tweeter and mid range speakers in my e36. I have the HK sound option and my original speakers were shot so I couldn't develop an equal comparison. Overall I liked the direct fitment and the sound is clear and rich coming from an original head unit.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely looking for improved clarity since the HK system sounds a bit muddy. btw, this is for E46 coupe.
