Recall of McDonalds Shrek Forever After Glasses

Post by jont »

Info here and here. This link from McDonalds indicates there's a hotline being set up to handle the recall.

The glasses contain some paint with Cadmium in them. If you have any, don't use 'em!

As an unlikely turn of events, the glasses were made in Millville, NJ, but no idea where the cadmium-tainted paint came from, yet.

So you're saying we should double check the glasses at Monday's banquet?

The Millville/Vineland area is famous for making glass. As a matter of fact, arguably the best laboratory glassware in the world is made in that area. It's a shame this company will probably end up taking a hit because of the sensational nature of these things. I would guess the paint was manufactured elsewhere, but I have no information to support that suspicion. Based on what I could gather from reading the articles and doing a little research, the Cadmium levels are so low it would be nearly impossible for anyone to get sick from it. Now it's up to the trial lawyers and corporations to sort it out. I wonder when the first lawsuit will be filed on behalf of a cadmium poisoned child?
