Formula 1 @ MMC?

Post by mmarv »

Just as much chance as a Jersey City race, but much more interesting.

I also heard that Bernie was trying to contact Elihu to see if they could do an F1 race at one of our TD Ballpark Autocross events -then he came to his senses, realizing that the competition and display of driving skill by our drivers would be too much for the fragile egos involved.

Exactly. What it really is, is Bernie is still not getting enough of an offer from Indy. So he's pretending there are other options.

I think there is a better chance of getting struck by lightning, this is obviously a joke. R 8)

If they connected (as was the original plan) Thunderbolt and Lightning I bet they could at least have an IRL race at NJMP. Why doesn't F1 got back to Watkins Glen?

At the Glen last week, a security guard was certain that an F1 scouting team was coming to the Glen in June to evaluate. And, it looks like MMC is not a rumor... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/motorsp ... 697770.stm

Hard to believe there's enough investor interest to do either.

Two things in that article that struck me. One, it will cost $150M to get MMC ready. Wow. Second, the article mentions the availability of hotel rooms and entertainment options, I know they mean NYC but I had this funny vision of Schumi rolling up to the Best Western in Monticello. :P

"Shortly thereafter, Hermann Tilke, the chief engineer and circuit designer for F1, spent time at MMC and confirmed that our track and surrounding properties, with some expansion and minor track modifications, is an excellent location for a Grand Prix.
I think the tent which serves as the clubhouse would need to be at least twice as large.

Wouldn't mind seeing them try to negotiate the quick right/left at the end of the back straight, though.
