A new track in NJ!

Post by tnoda »

I thought I will post this in case not too many members knew but a new track is being constructed in NJ. The ground breaking is going to commence this spring and looking at the track layout it sure does look like a doozy. Perhaps the Driving School Committee might like to start a conversation with the track owners and get a jump start on bookings?

Some facts...

* One of the principals in the project is Harvey Siegel (owner of VIR)
* Located in Millville, NJ
* Construction starts in Spring 2006
* Track expected to open in Spring 2007
* Multiple layouts expected with the longest being 4.01 miles

Here is the link for the track!

Cheers

I think many of us (and all the 2004, 2005 and 2006 boards) and all the active racers and drivers have been watching this coming for years; I believe conversations have already started.

It is being done by people with a history of success, but you should also be aware that similar projects have gone even further in our area and failed, so don't count those chickens yet!

Wasn't there supposed to be a track built somewhere near Harrisburg, too? I recall they were trying to get funding by selling memberships or some such.

HI -

I believe that two of the three others that several are referring too - Alpine (Allentown environs) and Rausch Creek (near Harrisburg) are dead. Perhaps there may be some offroading ATV stuff at these places but paved track is a no go.

So we wait for south jersey......

Cheers, Mark.

No, it's basically a really, really nice karting track. I've driven it a few times and it's absolutely impossible to imagine real cars racing on it, or even lapping fast. They didn't have enough real estate to build a real road course.
