2021 Driving Season

Post by Allison »

Hi all,

Happy Friday! New-ish member here, looking forward to this year's driving schools/events (pandemic-permitting). This will be my first time getting on track with my car (e92 328i xDrive)--I was planning on making the debut in 2020 but we all know how that went. I had a ton of fun at our 2019 Autocrosses, so I'm very excited to get out there!

Who else can't wait for Spring? What car do you take to the track?

Here's my car during better days (AutoX 2019)

Hi Allison,

I'm certainly looking forward to spring, too. Here's me and my student, both in Lotus Elises in a lead/follow format, at a National Capitol Chapter event, pointing the BMW's by.

Cheers,
Matthew

Hey Matthew,

What a cool photo!! I will be sure to wash my car before our events...need to look good for the camera! Hope you're doing well + had a nice holiday despite the craziness in the world.

I wonder if all of our schools will be in a lead-follow format this year. It would be great to have at least one track day with an instructor in the car, but I guess time will tell.

See you soon,
Allison

I'm definitely looking forward to it. I haven't been on the track in a few years! I defected from the BMW brand last year, and purchased a used 2019 Golf R. It's plenty fast, and I'd love to find out how to get the best performance out of it. I found a car I fit in without my helmet grazing the roof liner!

I think I have to doublecheck my helmet - I'm not sure if it's rated Snell 2010 or earlier.

Now that I've registered for the April HPDE, I need to act on getting a helmet soon. Anyone know if this style is permissible? It has no face shield. Of course, I'd only get one or one like it if it's SA2020 full face certified.

Happy Friday all,

I might be a broken record at this point...WOW, did I have fun at the track!! I'm looking forward to going back to NJMP, and to Summit Point in the summer. Must resist the urge to buy M3 seats...or full-on race seats...(no promises)

Thank you all and see you in June

Is there a 'host hotel' for not people camping on site for the HPDE at Summit Point in several weeks? I forgot to book a room nearby. Where are people staying?
