Assuming the bushings (control arm bushings) are not defective. Are the actual arms inner and outer ball joints ok?are the shocks ok as well? If all suspension components and brakes are ok. Assuming your car has ASC (not DSC) ,you can have a brake line dampener installed .part#34 31 6 750 384 ,aroun...

To bolster what Vic said, on the 95 M60 engine, air leaks can be from several areas.

-intake gaskets( been improved over the years)
-intake air pressure regulator(back of intak manifold)
-general gasket leaks(look for oil leaks)
-dipstick secured?oil cap?

just some things to look for

Re: Navigation versions

My 740iL came with the MKIII version 17 navigation version. Is it possible to upgrade to the latest MKIV version 28? Is there a listing somewhere that indicates the improvements or changes that were made with each version and how the MKIV may be different than the MKIII? MKIII is a CD-ROM based sys...

Thanks for the info on the Navigation. My system came installed standard. How do you "unplug" it. As for updates, Navteq has a set of DVDs for the BMW system. May be cheaper than the dealer. Go navteq.com. Thanks again. You can pull the unit itself out with the help of (Ford radio removal tool),Ken...

Re: Synthetic Oil

When I purchased my car last fall, I noticed that there was a recent oil change done and the next interval was only 3,000 miles from the last change. I am thinking that they did not use a synthetic oil during the oil change which would have had a much longer interval. Can I intermix synthetic oil w...

Re: DVD Navigation Disc

Navigation on 2001 740iL (E38). I want to update with new discs, but I cannot eject the old disc. Nothing happens when I push the eject button. Is there a trick to this process? Thanks. Sorry you got no replies, did you get it out yet? if not,I have successfully unplugged the unit for approx 5 minut...

Re: Additional info on the subject

I'd also like to update the data on my NAV and am still using the original 2001 CD. Any comments on where can I get an update online, how much it would cost and if there are any software updates that could be applied to the unit? would I need to go back to the dealer for this? Your dealer can get b...

Re: I see your point and stand partially corrected

Ray, My comments were based on the fact the rear subframe is not attached to any of the suspension components. I do see that under conditions that would cause chassis flex, that the subframe is acting as a stiffener to the floor pan of the car. If you mean the rear subfloor and not the subframe,you...

These are aftermarket wheels - ASA AR-1's with Michelin Pilot Sports. I ran these wheels last year without any such problems (don't need rings, torque them up properly myself, etc). I guess one of the tires might be defective, but hey, isn't that what balancing is all about? I don't expect any tire...

Re: Thanks for the Update

Larry, The fact you have modified the suspension or have the sport pack should have no impact. As I understand it the subframe basically supports the diffierential, and has no invovlement in supporting the weight of the car or being stressed by any suspension or braking forces. Now doing clutch dum...
